A message from UH West O‘ahu Chancellor Gene Awakuni

As the holiday season draws nearer, so does the monumental opening of the new UH West O‘ahu campus in Kapolei.

One challenge of living in temporary quarters and not having a campus to call your own for three decades is the ancillary programs normally associated with a campus like alumni affairs. But, that’s about to change. By August, when the UH West O‘ahu campus welcomes students for the first time, we should be on our way toward realizing many dreams that started more than 35 years ago.

For UHWO alumni, you don’t need to wait until next year to get involved with the new campus. You can start today. Participate as much or as little as your schedule and interest allows, but get involved.
  • As construction nears completion, special alumni tours of the new campus will be scheduled in the Spring. You won’t want to miss being among the first to see the new LEED certified buildings even before classes begin.
  • We want to start planning for different alumni activities or alumni driven activities to build pride in the UHWO community.
  • Reconnect and re-engage with your colleagues and peers by getting in on the ground floor and helping us to develop a vibrant and active UHWO alumni association. Contact Kyle Galdeira ([email protected]) for more information.
  • Spread the word to high school seniors you know that registration for next year is now open. They can be among the first to enjoy the new Kapolei campus.
