At the University of Hawai‘i, we are all in this together. As we adjust to a new reality amid concerns about COVID-19, you may be wondering how you can help.

Make a gift to support UH students when they need you most.

You can also be part of the global solution. UH is at the forefront of medical research in emerging diseases. You can directly support ongoing critical research focused on preventing and curing infectious and emerging diseases, including COVID-19.

As part of the UH ‘ohana, we are rising to the challenge. In times of crisis, UH and the people of Hawai‘i stand together in unity.

Urgent Student Relief Fund

Help Students Stay Afloat

COVID-19 is sweeping Hawai‘i into uncertainty, altering everyday activity throughout the state. In times of emergencies like this, University of Hawai‘i students at our 10 campuses find themselves in urgent financial distress. The usual pressures of finishing the semester are exacerbated by the pandemic’s pervasive upheaval of routines and constant concern for family and friends.

Financially, many of our students who are already living on a shoestring are even closer to the edge. Students relying on jobs for tuition are being laid off.  Others need childcare as schools are closing, access to computers as classes move online, transportation when living arrangements shift, or food when their meals are in doubt.

The type of need is as unpredictable as the chaos surrounding COVID-19, but UH is ready to respond, with your help. Please lift up our students so they may continue their education in the midst of this global crisis.

Your gift will support students impacted negatively by unexpected crises such as COVID-19.

Research to Save Lives

Help fight COVID-19 and Infectious and Emerging Diseases

In this time, when the news cycle seems to be measured in minutes rather than days, it’s tempting to grow impatient with the speed of developments. Yet University of Hawai‘i researchers are working fervently to detect, prevent, and cure this and other infectious and emerging diseases in the islands and abroad.

Among other efforts, scientists at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) are expanding ongoing development of heat-stable vaccines for viruses, to include coronaviruses causing COVID-19.  Success means rapid, efficient manufacturing of vaccines with broad application for the general population, including our children and seniors. Further, our experienced scientists are working on the development of processes for rapid screening and surveillance of COVID-19 in the islands and abroad.

Your gift to JABSOM will support the fight against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.

Together we can turn your compassion for our communities into genuine advancement against disease. Let’s combat, conquer, and cure this disease and be prepared for whatever’s coming next—together.
