HONOLULU—The University of Hawai‘i Foundation is happy to announce that Tara Loty and Donna Gutierrez have joined the UH Foundation alumni relations team, and Roxanne Kam has been promoted. The UH Foundation alumni relations team is responsible for building and sustaining relationships with alumni from all ten UH campuses and enhancing services to alumni.

Tara Loty has joined the UH Foundation as director of alumni engagement – Mānoa. Her focus is on building and sustaining relationships globally with alumni and graduating students for the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa by providing outreach and strategic engagement.
Prior to joining the UH Foundation, Loty served as the manager of community engagement at the University of Wollongong in Australia. Tara has expertise in community and alumni relations, stakeholder and partnership engagement, communications, and outreach programs. Loty created and implemented the In2Uni program, an Australian program which aims to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to attend university. She was the recipient of the 2012 Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Community Engagement at the University of Wollongong. Loty earned her bachelor of laws from the University of Wollongong and a bachelor of arts from the Università di Bologna in Italy.
Donna Gutierrez is joining the alumni relations team as director of alumni engagement – community colleges after serving as director of special events at the UH Foundation for the past 8½ years. In this new role, she is responsible for building and sustaining relationships with alumni and graduating students for Kapi‘olani, Honolulu, Leeward, Windward, and Kauaʻi Community Colleges and Maui College.
Gutierrez has been working in the nonprofit sector for 20 years including serving as the youth programs manager at MADD-Hawaii. She is well-versed in nonprofit management, fundraising, donor and alumni relations, community outreach, and program and event management. A proud University of Hawai‘i alumna, she received her associate degree from Leeward Community College and bachelor of science in fashion merchandising from UH Mānoa.
Roxanne Kam has been promoted to director of alumni engagement programs. In this elevated role, she will develop and implement programs to strengthen alumni-to-university, alumni-to-alumni, and alumni-to-student networks. She will focus on programs that support career and professional development and lifelong learning, and will oversee regional and international alumni engagement activities.
Kam has been a part of the UH Foundation team since 2008, serving as associate director of membership and chapter relations in the office of alumni relations. Most recently she served as interim director of alumni relations. Prior to joining the UH Foundation she worked at the Japan-America Institute of Management Science (JAIMS) for 18 years in a variety of roles. Kam earned her bachelor of arts in international studies at UH Mānoa and has taken graduate courses in higher education and business administration at UH Mānoa.
These new alumni relations positions build on the positive momentum gained since Nico Leilani Verissimo was promoted to director of alumni engagement for Hawaiʻi Island in 2012.
