Hawai‘i – The University of Hawai‘i Foundation is happy to announce that Dale Spenner has been promoted to director of estate and gift planning. Additionally, Diana Kim has joined the Foundation as associate director of estate and gift planning.

Dale SpennerDale Spenner joined the University of Hawai‘i Foundation team in 2015 as the associate director of estate and gift planning.  In this elevated director role Spenner works closely with the fundraising team to help donors make gifts that support UH students, research, programs and faculty. His area of expertise is planned giving tools including charitable gift annuities, bequest intentions, charitable remainder and lead trusts and retained life estates.

Before moving to Hawai‘i, Spenner was the director of planned giving at the Culver Educational Foundation in Indiana for over 10 years. There he set strategic direction, raised private support using planned giving instruments, secured outright major gifts and successfully completed a record breaking capital campaign.

Experienced in both for-profit and not-for-profit enterprises, his prior executive positions include serving as president for six companies in five different industries. Spenner earned a Master of Science in Management and Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Indiana.
 
Diane KimDiana Kim, MPH, JD, has joined the Foundation as associate director of estate and gift planning.  A recent UH Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law graduate, Kim has received numerous recognitions including being named the 2013 recipient of the Patsy T. Mink Legislative Fellowship. Kim also served as judicial extern to the Honorable Judge R. Mark Browning, State of Hawaii Family Court.

Since 2008, Kim has lectured in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at UH Mānoa. She is also the owner of Diana Kim Photography, LLC and has received international recognition for her photographic project “The Homeless Paradise.”

Kim earned her Master in Public Health and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UH Mānoa.
