Paul Y. Kobayashi, Jr.HONOLULU – The University of Hawai‘i Foundation is happy to announce that Paul Y. Kobayashi, Jr is joining the senior leadership team as vice president for administration/chief financial officer. In this capacity, Kobayashi will be responsible for directing all aspects of the University of Hawai‘i Foundation’s financial management, information systems and infrastructure, central development services and human resources management. He will also work closely with the board of trustees and in particular the executive, audit, real estate and investment committees of the board.

Kobayashi comes to the Foundation with extensive experience in corporate enterprise and higher education. Most recently, Kobayashi served as the executive assistant to the vice president of budget and finance and chief financial officer for the University of Hawai‘i System. Prior to that he was the director – financial management and controller at the University of Hawai‘i. Coupled with this, Kobayashi brings years of experience from the private sector. He worked at Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. for fifteen years, serving in a variety of finance and accounting capacities including his last seven years as vice president and controller.

Kobayashi added, “Having served as a financial executive with the University of Hawai‘i, I have a deep appreciation and intimate understanding of the vital and central role the University of Hawai‘i Foundation plays in support of the many programs and students across the university system and its ten campuses,” said Paul Kobayashi, Jr. He concluded, “I am very excited to be part of this team supporting my alma mater in such a significant way.”
