UHAA held its 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner and silent auction May 11 at the Sheraton Waikiki. This year's DAA honorees were Wesley Fong, JD, BA '65; David Lassner, PhD '98; Ashok Kumar Malhotra, PhD '69; and Virginia Pressler, MBA '75, MS '81, MD '82. UHAA reaches out at Manoa graduation

UHAA was fortunate to have a place onstage alongside featured speaker Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng (BA '94, PhD '06 Manoa) at the Stan Sheriff Center during UH Manoa's spring commencement exercises on May 15.

Alumni Council gathers at UH Manoa

UHAA Chapter leaders convened for their annual meeting in the UH Manoa Campus Center on May 12. Sixteen leaders representing 13 alumni chapters attended the meeting, and UH President M.R.C. Greenwood stopped by to share her goals for the university.

UHAA is accepting submissions of alumni art for its 2011 Alumni Art Calendar.

Letterwinners Club is now a UHAA chapter

A distinguished organization of former University of Hawai'i at Manoa athletes, UH Letterwinners Club was unanimously voted into chapter status by the UHAA Board of Directors on May 26.

Local Kine Grinds for UHAA - Las Vegas

UHAA - Las Vegas kept alumni fed Hawai'i-style with its 12th Annual Stew Dinner on March 13 and its spam musubi booth at the California Hotel Lei Day Festival on May 1. The chapter raised nearly $5,000 for its scholarship fund at its 10th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on May 15.

TIM alumni meet, greet and donate

Travel Industry Management International, Inc., has been busy this spring. The chapter held its general membership meeting at Kahuku Farms, reunited with former favorite professor John Cox, and donated $10K to the TIM School for scholarships.

The Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work is pleased to announce that Le'a Publications, a publishing project under the auspices of the school, has published the first issue of its online journal and the first book in its book series.

Shidler College earns top honors, learns from eBay founder

Shidler College of Business was ranked among the nation's best business programs by BusinessWeek magazine. And, a team of Shidler College students placed first runner-up in the 2010 Thammasat Asia Moot Corp in Bangkok, Thailand. eBay founder Pierre Omidyar shared his insight into being a successful entrepreneur and visionary with more than 650 people.

It will be a day-long celebration of sports in Hawai'i, and feature games and activities for the entire family.
