UHAA awards outstanding service
UHAA presented its 2010 Outstanding Community Service award to ESPN 1420AM during halftime of the Homecoming football game on Oct. 30 at Aloha Stadium. Its 2010 Chapter of the Year Award was given to the UHAA – San Francisco Bay Area chapter on Oct. 9, and its Partner of the Year Award went to GEICO on Aug. 30. MORE

Class of '60 celebrates 50th reunion during UHM Homecoming
UHAA honored the Class of 1960 at the Golden Scholars Reunion as part of this year's UH Mānoa Homecoming Week. The golden grads gathered for a fun afternoon of reminiscing and had lots of activities scheduled around the UH Mānoa campus. MORE

Congratulations to our iPad contest winner!
Congratulations to Becky Ebisu '71, our grand prize winner of a brand new iPad! More than 1,200 different alumni set up new accounts or logged into existing accounts in the Online 'Ohana at UHalumni.org between June 1-Nov. 15, 2010. Six other winners were selected to receive five $200 Costco gift cards and a Warrior Football helmet. MORE

UHAA adds free basic membership level
To keep alumni connected with the university and with each other, UHAA has created a new membership level open to all UH System graduates. Basic-level members can access UHAA's Online 'Ohana alumni directory at UHalumni.org to keep in touch. Premium benefits, like event and partner discounts, and chapter membership are still available to paid members. MORE

Bay Area celebrates 12th Road Warriors Tailgate
More than 500 UH fans gathered for the Bay Area's 12th annual Road Warriors Tailgate on Oct. 9 at Beiden Baseball Diamond, before cheering alongside 1,300+ Hawai‘i fans at Fresno State as Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 49-27. UH athletics director Jim Donovan presented the UHAA – San Francisco Bay Area chapter with UHAA's 2010 Chapter of the Year Award at the event. MORE




Engineering alumni return to campus for "Holmes"coming
The Engineering Alumni Association of the University of Hawai'i and the UH Mānoa College of Engineering hosted the 3rd Annual "Holmes"coming Celebration on Nov. 10. MORE

TIM alumni celebrate Homecoming & raise $25K in online auction
The School of Travel Industry Management (TIM) and TIM International had a Homecoming celebration of their own on Oct. 29 in George Hall. As part of this year's Homecoming festivities, TIMI raised more than $25,000 for the TIM School in its first-ever online auction. MORE

Las Vegas chapter elects new officers, brings UHAA into community
UHAA & Friends – Las Vegas chapter voted in a new slate of officers for its 2010-2012 term. Chapter members have been busy representing UHAA at community festivals as well as helping the UH Mānoa Admissions office with recruiting efforts at an area college fair. MORE

Pacific Northwest chapter's first raffle a success
The UHAA Pacific Northwest chapter held its first-ever raffle to raise money for student scholarships. Chapter members sold tickets for the drawing and gave away prizes to 13 lucky winners. MORE

Shidler College abuzz with fall news & events
Shidler College was all business this fall. Alumni heard from AOL co-founder Steve Case in a lecture on Nov. 1, went "Back to Business" on Oct. 29 during UH Mānoa's Homecoming Week, and they raised their sake glasses and money for scholarships on Sept. 9. MORE

Dr. Anurag Bist hosted a dinner reception for College of Engineering dean Peter Crouch, and Sharon Abbott joined M.R.C. Greenwood at the inauguration of the University of Southern California's new president, C.L. Max Nikias. MORE

Samuel C.C. Ting is a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and renowned MIT professor.

Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology celebrates partnership
Managers from the 43 marine sites on the World Heritage List of the UNESCO met in Hawai‘i.

Researcher focuses on congenital abnormality
Dr. Jinzeng Yang, a molecular biologist at UH Mānoa, led the research effort.

Professor publishes first comprehensive reference of nanophysics
Klaus D. Sattler directed the collaborative effort of 683 contributing authors from 47 countries.

Library and Information Science graduate program cited among top ten
The school library media specialization ranked eighth in the top ten programs in the nation.

First observation of a new class of rare "penguin decays" reported
Kurtis Nishimura, a graduate student, is working on the Belle experiment at the KEKB factory.

Professors receive grant for project in American Samoa
Students from UH Mānoa will work with students from the American Samoa Community College.
