Isaac Kaiolohia Kneubuhl, music legend Emma Veary’s grandson, made a $1000 gift to support the Emma Veary Music Scholarship at UH Maui College. This scholarship supports students who have demonstrated excellence and potential in music.

Emma Veary is known as the Golden Voice of Hawai‘i. She was the recipient of the Nā Hōkū Hanahano Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. She performed on stage, screen, and television and is considered an icon in the music industry. Born in Honolulu, she now resides in Maui.

Isaac Kneubuhl shared, "It is funny to have a music legend in the family. To me, Emma Veary is just Nana. Honestly, I never realized her talent, fame and her importance to those in the music world.  I know she inspired my mother to sing as one of the successful Hula Honeys, but who knew she would be inspiring young college musicians?”

Kneubuhl was born and raised in Maui, attended the Kamehameha Schools, and graduated from CSU, Northridge. He is a professional volleyball player who toured three years in Europe on the United States National Volleyball Team. Today, he is an energetic entrepreneur and the founder and owner of Volee, an elite athletic clothing line. He also coaches club and professional volleyball.

Kneubuhl continued, “Until moving to Hermosa Beach, California, I didn't even know that the Emma Veary Music Scholarship existed. I learned about the scholarship through one of my grandmother's friends who lives here near me.  Once I heard how Maui College was honoring my grandmother, I wanted to contribute too."
