I came to UH Mānoa as a new international graduate student this semester and I was hired as a graduate assistant. My major is mechanical engineering and I’m working on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) dynamics, making them autonomous and increasing their efficiency. My dream is to develop UAVs so they are even more helpful for people and can solve a range of challenges facing our world.

As an international student, I have a documentation process that I need to go through. This includes getting a Social Security Number to submit to my department. However, due to the pandemic, all Social Security Offices are closed temporarily and I am not able to apply for a SSN which means that I cannot get funds from my department until the offices reopen. At the same time, I'm not able to receive funds from home due to the quarantine in my country. I don't have any source to get funds from.

During this time, I received an email about the urgent student relief fund. Thanks to the donors, I received a relief fund. This fund is helping me overcome the financial stress.

I'm very grateful to all the donors and UH for supporting me and other students during such circumstances.

Thank you,

Jasur
