Aloha, my name is Mounga. I am one of those many people who were truly blessed to receive the Urgent Student Relief award!

My father is the only source of income in our home. My mother and I aren’t able to work yet, so I am just a full-time student, while my mom is a stay-at-home mom. All my younger siblings are sophomore and down. The youngest is in 2nd grade. There are 7 of us kids. My grandparents also live with us.

I am majoring in psychology. Now with Covid-19, I have to do online classes while teaching my 6 younger siblings. Covid 19 has cut down my dad’s work hours making it hard to make ends meet. Sometimes I have to starve so that I know my dad (main source of income) my grandparents (who are 75 & 83), mom and siblings can eat.

My greatest concern is that we won’t have enough money to pay rent or get kicked out on the streets.

I have always wanted to be in a career where I can help others. I am currently trying to become a high school counselor. I want to be able to change students’ lives and hopefully make them realize that if I can reach my dreams, so can they.

I just want to thank the donors because without the money that you have blessed my family and I with, we wouldn’t have been able to pay our electricity bill and get food to last us. Thank you for helping my family and I.

I cried because you helped me, and helped take off some pressure from my dad’s shoulders. So thank you so much for helping us! Mahalo or as we say in my native tongue Malo aupito ae ofa.
