Members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hawai‘i recently awarded Hawai‘i Community College funding to support student scholarships, faculty and staff professional development, and other general college needs. The funds were raised during the Japanese Chamber’s annual Taste of Hilo event. Over the past two decades, the Japanese Chamber has provided more than $150,000 in contributions to Hawai‘i Community College.
Interim Chancellor Joni Onishi expressed her gratitude saying, “This gift has been so helpful to our college because of its consistent year-after-year support. It is a unique gift because it helps support many different areas of the college: students, faculty and staff, and more.”
