"We are not rich by any means, but we love UH sports and we want to help them win." - Sheena Ing

UH alumni and steady donors Sheena and Fred Ing are lifelong, dedicated UH sports fans who cheer the teams every chance they get. From holding season tickets in the 1970s and enjoying the Men's Basketball "Fab Five" run to Derek Tatsuno's baseball years, this energetic couple has been rooting for UH.

Their support extends beyond the games and their generosity spans years. From jewelry to stocks and cash, to gifts from their IRA, the Ings are committed to giving what they can to help our UH student-athletes succeed both on the field and in the classroom.

Dave Shoji, former head coach of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team shared, "Sheena and Fred are just amazing supporters! Having them at our games cheering the team, coupled with their generous financial support, sends a very encouraging message to our hard-working student-athletes. It tells them that what they do matters. Super-fans like the Ings inspire our teams to do their very best!"

Fred and Sheena have enjoyed a long history with UH. Fred graduated from UH Mānoa in 1962 with a Bachelors in Psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences. After graduating he served in the military and then worked with computers as a federal employee. Sheena majored in Elementary Education and earned her degree from the College of Education in 1965. After graduating she worked for the state.

If you are like the Ings, you may be looking for a way to make a big difference for student-athletes or other UH programs. If you are 70½ or older you could make a gift while also lowering the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. An IRA charitable rollover may be the key.
