(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) — The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation is pleased to announce that Mariko Miho has accepted a new position as the senior director of development for the University of Hawaiʻi — West Oʻahu. She will be working with UH West Oʻahu Chancellor Gene Awakuni to cultivate and steward individual major gift donors. She will also be working with senior UH Foundation leadership on campaign planning, in partnership with the UHWO leadership team. Mariko previously served as the senior director of development for the community colleges.

"We are delighted to have a designated senior development director at the UH Foundation working with us as we focus on building an endowment to support students at our growing new campus," said Chancellor Gene Awakuni, UH West Oahʻu. "This is an exciting time for UH West Oʻahu, our students, alumni, and community. It is likely that Mariko's support and experience will prove to be a great help in our University's history."

Miho was born and raised in Honolulu. She graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 1980 with a BA in Psychology and has been working in leadership and development positions supporting public higher education for the past 15 years. Previous posts include; community affairs and special programs coordinator at the University of Hawaiʻi community colleges; vice president of donor services and marketing at the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation; and associate vice president of development at the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation. Earlier in her career Miho worked in diverse settings in Tokyo, California and Hawaiʻi, as a language trainer, business-to-business marketing communications specialist for Hewlett Packard, and nonprofit executive for performing arts and cultural organizations.
