The Ohia Building Cafeteria at Kapi‘olani CC was full of laughter and good cheer as 230 donors, scholarship recipients and members of the UH ‘ohana came together to celebrate the impact of philanthropy. Guests enjoyed hearing from donors Lester and Marian Kaneta who spoke about their reasons for supporting students through scholarships and the personal satisfaction they feel seeing firsthand the transformational impact their philanthropy is making in the lives of others. Guests also heard from Eva Costa, a scholarship recipient who has returned to school after many years away raising a family on her own. She has proven that with the help of donors’ generous support, determination and college resources, one can excel.
The Kapi‘olani CC Culinary Arts team catered and lived up to its award winning reputation, much to the delight of all. Thank you donors for opening the doors of opportunity for our students!
