Russell Barlow is a UH Mānoa PhD student documenting the grammar of the Ulwa language, spoken by 600 people in Papua New Guinea. Kendi Ho is a UH Mānoa PhD student examining the way Hawai‘i’s elderly and their caregivers discuss health, care, and how their needs are met. The Russell J. and Dorothy S. The Culinary Institute of the Pacific and Health Sciences Programs at Kapi‘olani CC received $70,000 from Kaiser Permanente and $50,000 from Walmart Foundation to support the purchase and refurbishment of the college’s “Cooking up a Rainbow” Health and Wellness Food Truck.
