The University of Hawai‘i Foundation, the nonprofit organization that raises private funds to support students, programs and research on all 10 UH campuses, is happy to announce that Rachel Foster has joined the team as director of human resources, in charge of managing recruitment, hiring, retention and employee relations, as well as benefits administration, training, compliance and other core HR functions for the foundation.

Foster is a veteran human resources executive with more than 20 years of experience, 18 of those in education, both public and private institutions.

She most recently served as director of human resources at Sacred Hearts Academy in Honolulu, where she managed full-cycle recruitment, ensured fair hiring practices and federal and state law compliance, oversaw employee relations and conducted staff trainings.

Foster also previously served as the human resources coordinator at ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, where she reported to the regional director of human resources and oversaw recruitment, retention and employee relations. She also conducted onboarding for bargaining unit members and management positions and championed a range of employee recognition events.

Prior to relocating to Hawaiʻi, she was a human resources generalist for a public school district in California that served more than 26,000 students at 32 schools.

Foster studied business management at Phillips Business College Salt Lake City and earned her Human Resource Management certification in California. She is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Hawaiʻi, the Society of Human Resources Management and SHRM Hawaiʻi.
