The University of Hawai‘i Foundation is delighted to announce that Richard Wacker, president and CEO of American Savings Bank, has been elected to serve as chair of the Foundation’s board of trustees. Wacker joined the board in 2011 and most recently served as vice chair.

Active in the community, Wacker has served in leadership positions on the boards of prominent organizations including the Hawaii Business Roundtable; Child & Family Service; Hawai‘i Pacific Health; Hawaii Bankers Association; University of Hawai‘i—Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship and the University of Hawai‘i—XLR8UH accelerator program. 

Prior to joining ASB, he was chairman of Korea Exchange Bank (KEB), the fifth largest Korean commercial bank. Wacker joined KEB in 2004 as chief operating officer, was appointed president and CEO in 2005, adding the position of chairman of the board from 2007.
