City Mill Company, Ltd. / Chung Kun Ai Foundation establishes scholarship endowment at the Shidler College

The City Mill Company, Ltd. / Chung Kun Ai Foundation has made a recent donation to elevate their longstanding, annual scholarship to an endowment to support full-time, undergraduate students at the Shidler College of Business in perpetuity. The original City Mill Company, Ltd. / C.K. Ai Foundation Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 and has since awarded scholarships to 26 students.

“We are very excited to fund essential upgrades to the UHM College of Engineering CEE Structures Lab,” said Michael Matsumoto. He continued, “SSFM started as a structures firm and our roots with UH run deep. We know that hundreds of students will benefit from new equipment which will prepare them for successful structural engineering careers in our state and around the world.”

In an effort to continue to address Hawai‘i’s growing physician shortage, one of the state’s largest health care systems today announced the launch of the Hawai‘i Pacific Health Medical Student Scholarship Fund.  The announcement was made jointly today by Raymond P. Vara, president and chief executive officer of Hawai‘i Pacific Health (HPH), and Jerris Hedges, dean of the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM).

Julie Inouye Promoted to Director of Development at the John A. Burns School of Medicine

The University of Hawai‘i Foundation is happy to announce that Julie Inouye has been promoted to director of development at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). In this new role, she supports JABSOM Dean Jerris Hedges in expanding fundraising efforts and broadening philanthropic support for the medical school’s students, programs, research and faculty.
