Walmart Foundation supports "Cooking up a Rainbow Food Truck"
The University of Hawai‘i Foundation/Kapi‘olani Community College received a $50,000 Walmart Foundation grant to support Kapi‘olani CC’s “Cooking up a Rainbow Food Truck.” This award is helping to fund the outfitting of a custom food truck that will be used to deliver nutritious, balanced meals to children eligible for free and reduced lunches during summer break. The team using the truck will also provide healthy and affordable cooking lessons and obesity prevention education in rural communities.

University of Hawai‘i Shidler College of Business receives $228 million in total gifts from alumnus Jay H. Shidler
Alumnus Jay H. Shidler has donated $117 million in cash and real estate ground leases immediately after delivering the final installment of the $111 million gift he announced in 2014. In total, Mr. Shidler has given $228 million to the school.
$1.35 million gift from Uehiro Foundation funds Philosophy and Ethics in Education
The Uehiro Foundation on Ethics and Education has pledged $1.35 million to support the University of Hawai‘i Uehiro Academy for Philosophy and Ethics in Education. This builds on their 2012 gift of $1.25 million which established the Academy.
