UH Mānoa's Kennedy theatre was filled with camaraderie and culture as friends and supporters of the UH Mānoa theatre program enjoyed a special reception, featuring traditional Japanese music from the music department, and the premiere of the Kabuki, the Vengeful Sword (Ise Ondo Koi no Netaba).

Prior to the performance, guests were treated to a demonstration of Kabuki, with narration by Julie Iezzi, associate professor, Japanese & Asian Theatre. Prof. Iezzi translated and directed the English rendition of the Vengeful Sword, continuing the 87-year tradition of Hawaiʻi Kabuki.
