In 1989 Grace Guslander sought to perpetuate her husband's memory and fulfill his desire "to give back to the community." With a generous gift to Kapiʻolani Community College she created "The Lyle L. Guslander Distinguished Visitors Program in Advanced Food Service and Hospitality Education."

The Lyle L. Guslander Distinguished Visitors Program brings world-renown culinary arts and hospitality leaders to Hawaiʻi to train students and faculty, preparing them to be global players in a fast-paced, rapidly changing industry. One of this year's visiting Guslander chefs was Franz Ziegler, a world famous Swiss patisserie/confisserie chef, entrepreneur, consultant and author. While visiting our state, he inspired faculty and students on Maui and Oahu with his chocolate demonstrations.

Through visiting programs future culinary and hospitality leaders are nurtured and inspired. Additionally, faculty benefit from the cutting edge, international training that keeps their skill sets sharp, and their passion for the culinary arts strong.
