Where students can further develop their professional skills and business management acumen in energy efficient, leading-edge culinary laboratories, classrooms and kitchens.

Where anyone who desires to learn and aspires to succeed at the highest professional level will be given the opportunity.

At the University of Hawaiʻi’s advanced culinary program on the slopes of Diamond Head, students will be able to pursue:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Culinary Management to prepare students for leadership roles in hospitality and restaurant industries. With UH structured as an integrated educational system, our students can experience a seamless transition from the advanced culinary certificate program to a four-year degree through UH West Oʻahu at CIP at Diamond Head.
  • Advanced Professional Certificate — advanced education and training in Asian, Pacific and Hawaiian cuisine which will prepare students and industry professionals for a four-year degree.
  • Short-Term Professional Courses — continuing education for working professionals to sharpen their culinary and business skills.

The state-of-the-art CIP at Diamond Head will be a place where students will receive an affordable and accessible world-class culinary training from world-class chefs.

This advanced training will nurture greatly needed qualified, educated workers to support the Hawaiʻi restaurant and hospitality industries, while building on the unique Asia-Pacific cuisine that has come to be world-renowned for its captivating blend of flavors, colors and textures through the creations of master chefs such as Roy Yamaguchi and Alan Wong.

We are seeking at least $16 million in private gifts to help the University of Hawaiʻi fulfill this vision. A $5 million grant from the prestigious Conrad N. Hilton Foundation has boosted private giving support to more than $8 million from individuals who share this vision. We are halfway there!
