JTB Goodwill Foundation’s New Endowment Scholarship
JTB Goodwill Foundation President Tsukasa Harufuku and board member Lena Young presented a ceremonial check to University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s School of Travel Industry Management Dean Thomas Bingham and University of Hawai‘i Foundation Senior Director of Development Harriet Cintron, after establishing an endowed scholarship for students pursuing degrees in the field of tourism and hospitality.
Accounting scholarship honors Hawaiʻi accountant Manny Sylvester
Accounting firm Accuity LLP and accounting faculty at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Shidler College of Business joined forces to establish a $50,000 endowed scholarship in honor of Manuel “Manny” R. Sylvester, former managing partner of Coopers and Lybrand.

Helping Future Astronomers Reach for the Stars
Roberta and Newton Chu have donated $35,000 to establish an endowed scholarship to honor Dr. Paul H. I. Coleman for his contributions to the astronomy field. Coleman, the first Native Hawaiian with a doctorate in physics, spent 16 years with the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Institute for Astronomy (IfA), where he was instrumental in its education and outreach efforts.

Parents honor their sons by adding $2M to their scholarship endowment at Shidler College
The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa received a $2 million bequest from the estate of Clifford and Blanche Hee to expand their scholarship in honor of their sons, Thomas and Michael Hee. Both sons unfortunately predeceased their parents due to complications arising from Hemophilia.
