For more than a century, the University of Hawaiʻi has worked hard to make higher education accessible to all. Whether through one of the seven community college campuses or one of the three four-year campuses, UH is expanding its efforts to attract the most promising students, regardless of their financial circumstances.
As college costs continue to rise, the amount of private support for students must as well. Gifts to scholarships and student aid help us to retain our best and brightest and to provide access to a life-changing higher education experience for our students.
Lenora M. Cho established a charitable remainder trust with highly appreciated stock. The trust will pay her income for life, and give her a generous tax deduction in the year of her gift. She also owed no capital gains tax upon the transfer or sale of the securities by the charitable remainder trust. When the trust terminates at Mrs. Cho's passing, the remainder of the trust will establish the David and Lenora M. Cho Endowment, which will provide undergraduate scholarships at UH Mānoa to graduates of Konawaena High School.

As a student at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, he learned the importance of protecting the future of Hawai'i's ecosystems. After witnessing and participating in the destruction of nature during the Vietnam War, Dr. Stevens realized that his personal mission was to help protect and restore Hawai'i's 'aina.
