Preserve and Enhance the Maui Cooperative Extension Gardens

This innovative program promotes applied research, and teaching of growing skills and techniques for healthy plants, including tropical plants, edible fruits and vegetables, native plants; as well as the development of a demonstration garden for teaching and learning.

You can support our efforts by choosing to “adopt” our garden.  In exchange for your tax deductible donation, you will receive an official certificate of adoption, and an open invitation to make an appointment to visit the Kahului Cooperative Extension Garden and/or the Kula Agricultural Experiment Station when you are on Maui, and depending on the size of your donation, your name may be listed on our website and/or in our garden.

Impact of Adopt-a-Garden

Make a direct impact on the sustainability and health of Maui’s demonstration gardens of tropical and edible plants.  Your donations will impact the Cooperative Extension education, programs and gardens in the following ways:

1. Support the maintenance, irrigation, pruning and upkeep of the gardens for ongoing community availability and enjoyment.
2. Promote research and development on a variety of plants and plant products.
3. Provide education and outreach to the community on a variety of program topics
4. Support Master Gardener’s and other students in an educational setting in order to develop the next generation of innovative and progressive gardeners and farmers.

Adopt-a-Garden Annual Giving Options

Sprout Donation:  All donations are gratefully accepted, and will help to support our education, outreach and the development and maintenance of our gardens.  We invite you to schedule an appointment to visit our Kahului Demonstration Garden or our Kula Agricultural Research Station.

$100 - Leaf: Your tax-deductible donation of $100 or more entitles you, or the person you designate, to receive an official certificate of adoption.

$300 - Bud: Your tax-deductible donation of $300 or more entitles you to receive an official certificate of adoption; and your name, or the name of the person you designate, listed on the Adopt-A-Garden website.

$500 - Bloom: Your tax-deductible donation of $500 or more entitles you to receive an official certificate of adoption, your name, or the name of the person you designate, listed on the Adopt-A-Garden website; and a personal guided tour of the Kahului Demonstration Garden by the Maui County Administrator.

$1000 – Bouquet: Your tax deductible donation of $1000 or more entitles you to receive an official certificate of adoption, your name, or the name of the person you designate listed on the Adopt-A-Garden website; a personal tour of the Kahului Demonstration Garden and/or the Kula Agricultural Research Station by the UH Maui County Administrator; and your name or the name of the person you designate, placed on a Bouquet supporter sign in our gardens. Corporate donors are also welcome to submit a corporate logo for the supporter sign.

Adoption donations may be made in your own name, or you may designate another person to receive a gift adoption along with all the program benefits.  This is a great alternative gift idea for birthdays and holidays for that hard-to-buy-for person!  Adopting our Garden for a child, or a classroom, is a great lesson in sustainability and gardening for the next generation!
