“In the 20-plus years I’ve been associated with UH Athletics, this is the most cohesive group that has been assembled in memory. From the UH coaches, players and staff – they lead by example and exhibit values that align with residents of Hawai‘i.”

—Eric Fujimoto, Ho‘ea Wealth Advisory Group

“We believe supporting this new initiative under David Matlin and his dedicated staff will strengthen our athletics programs, and further help the University of Hawai‘i to attract and develop young men and women who will become future leaders and contribute to the continuous building of our local community.”

—Ryan Tanaka, Waterhouse Inc

Mission

Pūpūkāhi I Holomua is an elite philanthropic society for University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Athletics that supports student-athlete success and ability to achieve their ambitious academic and athletic goals.

Student-Athletes First

The core of any athletics program is its student-athletes. The demands of being a student and an athlete are significant. They are role models for youth in our local community and representatives of our state around the world. They are challenged to win on the field and in the classroom.

Major private gifts are transformational and make an important impact today and in the future. Private support builds and improves facilities, provides much-needed nutritional meals, the best in quality training equipment, and the latest in overall wellbeing care.

“UH is our only state university. Its athletic achievements bring a great sense of pride to everyone in Hawai‘i. Direct support by fans, boosters and local businesses is essential to keeping us competitive, and I am proud to help in this effort.”

— Kent Youel, Donor
