(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) — Bank of Hawaii has made a significant investment in the future economic health of Hawaiʻi through their three-year pledge totaling $120,000 to sponsor the University of Hawaiʻi Economic Research Organization (UHERO). Private support such as this new investment from Bank of Hawaii is key to UHERO's ability to fulfill their mission of informing public and private-sector economic decision-making through quantitative and analytical research with a particular focus on the economies of Hawaiʻi and the Asia Pacific region.

Their pledge also provides lead support for UH Mānoa's UHERO Hawaiʻi Data Portal, a free online resource that provides access to the most up to date information on a wide array of economic and social indicators for the State and County economies.

UHERO Executive Director Dr. Carl Bonham expressed the organization's appreciation. "We are honored to have Bank of Hawaii as a lead supporter of UHERO's programs, and we're excited about the opportunity for continuing collaboration in the years ahead."

For Bank of Hawaii, the UHERO sponsorship extends the bank's longstanding commitment to programs that educate the Hawaiʻi community about important financial and economic issues.

According to Bank of Hawaii Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Al Landon, "UHERO is the leader in providing quality economic analysis and understanding related to Hawaiʻi's economy. UHERO's research helps business owners manage their businesses and contributes to the development of sound public policy. We're pleased to support this important community service."

With this financial support, Bank of Hawaii joins a number of corporate and public sector sponsors of UHERO research, data, forecasting, and outreach activities. It is hoped that this lead gift will help garner additional community support.

Contributions to UHERO can be made online at www.uhf.hawaii.edu/UHERO.
