(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) - The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation has received $15,965 in donations for the College of Education/University Laboratory School Fire Recovery Fund as of Friday afternoon. Donations include a $10,000 check from Altres that was received Friday.

The fund was arranged after a fire Tuesday afternoon consumed a 20,000 square-foot College of Education building that was used by several staff and faculty of the College and the students and teachers of the University Laboratory School. No one was seriously injured, but all the equipment, research and materials inside the learning facility were destroyed.

"The people and businesses of Hawaiʻi have always been generous when disaster strikes," said Donna Vunichvich, president of the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation. "They know that every donation makes a difference."

Those wishing to donate to the fire recovery effort can do so through the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation in three ways:
