(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) — In recognition of its 25th anniversary this year, McNeil Wilson Communications, Inc., announced the establishment of an endowed scholarship fund on behalf of the School of Communications at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

David McNeil and David Wilson, the firm’s founding partners, presented the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation with a gift of $35,000 to provide scholarships benefiting students majoring in communications with an emphasis in public relations. The first scholarship will be awarded for the upcoming academic year of 2007-2008.

"My partner and I and our firm as a whole are extremely grateful to the University of Hawaiʻi for its focus on preparing students who enter our profession. We’ve always enjoyed a strong relationship with Hawaiʻi’s flagship campus and this endowment is a measure of our gratitude," said David Wilson, the firm’s president.

Gerald Kato, chair of the School of Communications, said, "McNeil Wilson Communications has long supported the public relations program and given students internship opportunities that launched them on successful careers. The School of Communications is honored to receive this endowed scholarship because it reflects the continuing support of the professional community for what we do and it serves as a bridge between the campus and community."

Both McNeil and Wilson have frequently served as guest lecturers at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and McNeil has also been a longtime member of the Advisory Council for the School of Travel Industry Management. Many of the firm’s staff members are graduates of the University of Hawaiʻi.
