Donors and friends gathered in the UH Mānoa Art Courtyard & Gallery for a night to remember that was a unique experiential sampling of original, innovative art, dance and music at the 3rd Annual ABSTRACT!

A variety of music evolved throughout the evening beginning with Takuma Itoh’s Jazz piano, and followed by the interactive electronic sounds of the UH Choir playfully enhanced by the guests via floor mats.

Betsy Fisher and her dancers performed an original interpretative dance among the guests to music composed for them by Takuma Itoh.  Dr. Maya Hoover’s voice students,  Andrea Maciel and Charles Mukaida performed French melodies.  Ian O’Sullivan played delicate classical and slack key guitar pieces, while guests dined on crepes and other French delights.

Guests were enchanted by French artist Kosta Kulundzic’s drawing in public view, as well as, works displayed by UHM artists Daven Hee (BFA 1999) Kelly Ciurej (MFA 2017), and Nisha Pinjani (MFA current), and Jacqueline Rush Lee (MFA 2000).  Rod Bengston presented a preview of French artist Stefane Perraud's Isotopia Pacifica in the main gallery.

We are most grateful to this year’s sponsor of the ABSTRACT, Samsil Cannon, and all of the donors who support creativity and innovation in the Arts at UH.
