Former UH faculty were treated to a day of discovery at Lyon Arboretum to thank them for the critical role they played in growing UH into the stellar institution it is today. Guests visited the new Micropropogation Lab. Here, Dr. Rakan Zahawi, Lyon Arboretum director and Nellie Sugii, Hawaiian rare plants program manager, inspired visitors with updates on their conservation efforts for Hawai‘i’s indigenous and rare plants. Liloa Dunn and Dr. Elizabeth Huppman from the Lyon Arboretum management team also gave a special private tour of the Hawaiian Ethnobotany Garden. Guests enjoyed catching up with old friends, making new ones and learning more about one of UH’s gems.

This is a big year for Lyon Arboretum as it celebrates 100 years. Join the festivities! More info here.
