WEST OʻAHU — Nineteen incoming University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu students recently received scholarship awards totaling $10,000 from the newly established Haseko Hoakalei Scholarship Fund. The fund was established with proceeds from the fourth annual Els Hoakalei Cup charitable golf tournament.

Hoakalei Charities and Haseko Development, Inc. partnered with the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation to create the scholarship with the purpose of supporting higher education and improved quality of life for island residents in West Oʻahu. Preference was given to graduates of James Campbell High School and Kapolei High School.
