(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) — SBS Media Holdings Co., Ltd. and SBS Foundation of Seoul, Korea has announced a gift of $200,000 to establish an expendable fund known as the Korean Law Faculty Fund at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law is committed to hiring a distinguished tenure track faculty member whose primary duties will include teaching courses and doing research and scholarship in Korean Law. As Dean Aviam Soifer explained, "This wonderful, generous gift will allow the Law School to add a crucial component to our existing strength in Asian Law. With the addition of a Korean Law expert, we will be in a strong position to lead the United States in Asian legal studies as well as to promote understanding between our two nations."

Established in 1990, SBS is the only private nationwide terrestrial broadcasting company in Korea. SBS is one of three terrestrial TV and radio broadcasting stations with a nationwide network. SBS syndicates programs to local, private stations. SBS Media Holdings Co., Ltd. is a Korea-based holding company engaged in the managing of SBS.
