(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) — The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation (UHF) and the University of Hawaiʻi Alumni Association (UHAA) are pleased to announce the hiring of Janet Yoshida Bullard, who has been appointed as the new associate vice president of alumni relations at the UHF and executive director of UHAA.

Janet comes to UHF after serving as senior director of marketing and promotions for Hawaiian Airlines for the past ten years. A seasoned professional in working with member organizations, she spent the previous ten years with the Hawaiʻi Visitors and Convention Bureau and the San Diego Visitors and Convention Bureau. Following her graduation from UH Mānoa in 1982 where she earned her BFA in 1982, Janet worked in the hotel industry and various management positions.

Since 1988, Janet has continuously served in various volunteer roles with UHAA and the UH system, including her service on the UHAA Board of Directors from 1990-1993 and from 2000 to present. She has been a member of the UH Mānoa Athletes Advisory Board since 2006 and the UH Community Partnership since 2005.

Janet has always worked diligently to engage alumni in all aspects of UHAA, from forming new chapters and serving as chapter president during her time in San Diego, to serving in the volunteer role of president for two one-year terms from 2005-2007. "After nearly 20 years of serving in a variety of volunteer roles for UHAA and the UH system, it is an honor to serve alumni in a full-time capacity," said Bullard. "I have a great passion for my alma mater, and I am grateful for the education I received and the lessons learned during my time here."

"Janet’s background in administration, communication, marketing and member organizations and her experience and leadership skills, have prepared her well to take on this important role in the UHF Office of Alumni Relations," said incoming UHAA board president Mitchell Kaʻaiailiʻi, assistant vice president and branch manager of First Hawaiian Bank — Mānoa.
