Beautiful weather, an intriguing setting, and inspiring students and faculty made this year’s Evening of Exploration for our Hoku and Founders donors another night to remember for all who were able to attend. Students gave guests tours of the Marine Education & Training Center and introduced them to the wide range of topics taught there from boat-building to voyaging. Attendees were treated to seeing the Polynesian Voyaging Canoe Hokule‘a from a unique perspective in dry-dock at the Center where staff and volunteers are preparing the vessel for its next voyage. Not many people have the opportunity to see the underside of this canoe that will carry a crew around the world in 2013!

New Honolulu Chancellor Erika Lacro shared her vision for Honolulu Community College to continue and expand its critical role in workforce development for Hawaiʻi and then donors, students, staff, and administrators enjoyed the refreshments and each other’s company to complete the evening.
