David Cole, National Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union, is the 2019 Dan & Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals. A special reception for donors and friends at UH Mānoa’s Barbara Smith Courtyard preceded the lecture in the Orvis Auditorium.

The Dan & Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals engages scholars and public figures dedicated to sharing their knowledge and life experiences with an emphasis on democratic processes.
