David Cole, National Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union, is the 2019 Dan & Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals. On February 28, the Georgetown law professor presented a thought-provoking public lecture for an eager audience, drawing upon experiences from the past two years to address critical elements necessary in preserving liberty in American democracy.

A special reception for donors and friends at UH Mānoa’s Barbara Smith Courtyard preceded the lecture in the Orvis Auditorium.
