Q&A With UHF Board Member Kent Youel

Dora and Kent Youel are long time generous UH supporters despite having never taken any classes at the University. In addition to their philanthropic support, they are active volunteer leaders who have played key roles in UH athletic programs’ booster clubs, 'Ahahui Koa Anuenue, and with the UH Foundation.

Proud UH Supporter Gives Athletics $1.2 Million 

The UH Mānoa Athletics Department has received a gift commitment of $1.2 million from a generous anonymous benefactor. Twenty-two UH Mānoa sports programs will benefit, including cheerleading and the band.

Exceptional Hawaiian Language Programs 

UH Hilo’s Ka Haka ‘Ula O Ke‘elikōlani is renowned for its language revitalization success at a time when indigenous languages are dying world-wide. The Ford Foundation is supporting this critical work.

UH Mānoa and System Scholarship Event 

The Stan Sheriff Center Arena was alive with color and conversation. The event showcased the sciences, highlighting the breadth of expertise we have at UH, and the myriad programs in which scholarships are helping students thrive.

Lā‘ieikawai: Celebrating Hawaiian Mo‘olelo on Stage 

Opening night for “Lā‘ieikawai” was a historic first for UH – a Kennedy Theatre performance done entirely in Hawaiian. The production inaugurated a new Hawaiian Theatre Fund at UHF.
