Honolulu — The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation and the University of Hawaiʻi Alumni Association (UHAA) are pleased to announce that Alvin Katahara has been promoted to associate vice president of alumni relations and UHAA executive director. In this new leadership position Katahara will guide the efforts to provide alumni relations programming and communications to all alumni and friends of the 10 University of Hawaiʻi campus system. The goal is to enhance the life-long relationship of these constituents with their campuses and the UH administration and build affinity.

Alvin joined the University of Hawaiʻi and the UH Foundation in 2009 when he was hired to serve as the director of annual giving for ʻAhahui Koa Ānuenue (AKA). His role was later expanded to include serving as the University of Hawaiʻi Na Koa Football Clubʻs executive director. In these positions he coordinated the football booster clubʻs membership drive and fundraising activities. He also coordinated and developed an annual giving campaign that supports and raises funds for all athletics programs. Prior to this he worked at the Honolulu Advertiser as the director of marketing and new business development.

Alvin is a proud UH Mānoa alumnus and holds degrees in marketing and management.
