HONOLULU — The accounting firm CW Associates, CPAs has donated $50,000 to elevate their annual scholarship to an endowment to support accounting students at the Shidler College of Business, School of Accountancy in perpetuity. The original CW scholarship was established in 2014 and has since awarded scholarships to eight students.

“I’m grateful to CW Associates for generously supporting our accounting students over the years,” says Vance Roley, dean of the Shidler College of Business. “By elevating their annual gift to an endowment, the CW Associates, CPAs scholarship will continue to grow and provide many scholarship opportunities to accounting students in the future.”

All five of the firm’s partners and many of the team members at CW Associates, CPAs are proud graduates of the School of Accountancy at the Shidler College of Business. Collectively, they believe this investment is an excellent way to give back to the University of Hawai‘i to support aspiring accounting students.

“As students working hard to pay for tuition many years ago, endowing a scholarship at the Shidler College of Business was beyond our wildest dreams,” says Carleton L. Williams, founding partner of CW Associates, CPAs. “Giving back means so much to us. Thank you to the professors and administrators who contributed to our ability to do so. We are forever grateful to the Shidler College of Business.”

Over the years, CW has provided internships and job opportunities to Shidler accounting students, and participated in its career development and student club activities. The firm also annually sponsors the Special Student in Accounting Award at the College’s Business Night and supports the Hall of Honor Awards.

CW Associates, CPAs was initially co-founded by Shidler College alumnus Carleton Williams in January 1989. Today, the firm provides financial reporting and tax services to a range of clients throughout Hawai‘i and is a Certified Public Accounting Corporation with over 50 professionals. In 2019, CW Associates, CPAs was ranked the 7th largest CPA firm in Hawai‘i according to the Pacific Business News “Book of Lists.”
