Jason Ono has joined the UH Foundation as chief administration officer (CAO). As CAO, Ono is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operations at the UH Foundation run smoothly and effectively. Amongst other core responsibilities, Ono is a key member of the organization’s senior management team and works closely with the board of trustees. The CAO oversees UH Foundation fiscal services, payroll and human resources.

Before returning to Hawai‘i, Ono served as vice president and business controller at Bank of the West, San Ramon, California. Here he led the design of processes, implementation of systems and reporting of consolidated GAAP financial statements of approximately 80 entities under a newly created intermediate holding company. Prior to this, he held leadership positions at Bank of Hawaii Corporation where he was vice president and financial risk assessment manager and Ernst & Young LLP where he served as senior manager – assurance services.

Ono earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce at Santa Clara University in California and is a certified public accountant with the State of Hawai‘i.

Cannon Brooke is the new director of Prospect Research & Relationship Management. In this role he manages the research program for major and principal gift initiatives. This includes planning, implementing and directing a program to support the development of relationships for the benefit of the university.

Brooke returns to the UH Foundation team after serving as associate director of prospect research at the Foundations of Hawai‘i Pacific Health, HI. Here he was responsible for building and directing the Foundation’s prospect research program. Before joining the Hawai‘i Pacific Health team, Brooke served as a research analyst at the UH Foundation for 4 ½ years.

Brooke earned both his Master and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, and his Associate of Arts and Sciences from Everett Community College, Everett, Washington.
