The University of Hawai‘i Foundation, the nonprofit organization that raises private funds to support students, programs and research on all 10 UH campuses, is happy to announce that Maile Au and Karla Zarate-Ramirez have been promoted.

Maile Au

Maile Au has been promoted to senior executive director of alumni relations from senior director of community and alumni relations. In this elevated role, Au is responsible for leading a comprehensive engagement program for alumni around the globe. She joined the UH Foundation in 2008 as director of alumni engagement.
 
Active in our community, Au is an Alakai board member for the Hawaii Foodbank and committee member for the American Heart Association BEAT. She is a proud UH alumna, and earned her MBA from the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa and her BS from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.

Karla Zarate-Ramirez, CFRE

Karla Zarate-Ramirez, CFRE has been promoted to associate vice president, major gifts from executive director of development. In this leadership role, she supervises a team of fundraising professionals who raise money for the UH colleges and units. She also works with UH leadership to identify funding priorities that align with donors passions and personally raises private support to help advance UH strategic goals. Before joining the UH Foundation in 2016, she worked at the American Friends Service Committee Headquarters in Philadelphia where she was director of campaign, leadership and planned gifts.
 
Zarate-Ramirez earned her MS in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and her BA from Hampshire College, Amherst, Massachusetts. She also has a Certified Fundraising Executive credential.
